Attorney Michael D. Kaufman has announced he will be running for Judge of the Sandusky Municipal Court this November. The Sandusky Municipal Court serves the City of Sandusky, Perkins Township, and the Villages of Bay View and Castalia.

 

Michael (Mike) is an Attorney in Sandusky who has been practicing Law since 1998. He is a 1989 graduate of Sandusky High School. Mike received his Bachelor’s degree and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toledo. He began practicing law in Erie County in 1998. Over the last 28 years, he has been a partner at the Law Firm of Kaufman & Kaufman, Co., LPA. Throughout his career, his practice has consisted of general civil litigation, domestic relations, criminal defense, estate planning and probate, land transactions, and municipal representation. Mike has represented both Plaintiffs and Defendants in Civil ligation and handled thousands of criminal matters as either the Prosecutor or Defense Counsel.

 

He has served as the Assistant Law Director/Municipal Prosecutor for the City of Sandusky, the Prosecutor for the Village of Kelleys Island, Prosecutor for the City of Huron, Solicitor for the Village of Bay View and Special Prosecutor for Ottawa County. Mike was also formerly a member of the Erie County Health Department, Board of Health where he served as the President Pro Tempore.

 

Mike is a member of the Erie County Bar Association, Huron County Bar Association, and the Ohio State Bar Association. He is licensed to practice in all Courts of the state of Ohio as well as the United States Federal Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

 

He is an active member of the Sandusky Rotary Club, the Sandusky Elks Club and the Huron Township Conservation Club. He and his wife, Sarah Kaufman, have three children: Braden, Cameron and Reagan.

 

His extensive connections to the City of Sandusky, Perkins Township, and the Villages of Bay View and Castalia complement his life experiences and his unique understanding of the needs of the community and our local Judicial system.
